How to identify risk factors of esophageal cancer

April 4, 2024
Chronic heartburn could signal esophageal precancer, with risk factors including obesity, being a white male over 50, and being a firefighter. Esophageal cancer, especially adenocarcinoma, has surged 733% since 1974 and is now the second-deadliest cancer in the U.S. Early diagnosis is often missed despite identifiable risk groups. Esoguard, a noninvasive test, and initiatives by Lucid Diagnostics aim to detect esophageal precancer early, especially among high-risk groups like firefighters. Nearly 22,000 Americans were diagnosed with esophageal cancer last year.
